Placement is a moment. Stewardship is the next twenty-five years.

Life Insurance Solutions is the licensed agency through which families and their advisors engage the Monolith Collaborative — and the office that stays with the case from the day the policy is placed to the day the funding is retired.

STRUCTURE

Bond-funded premium funding developed by The Monolith Group since 2004

AGENCY AND STEWARDSHIP FOR THE MONOLITH COLLABORATIVE

WHAT WE DO

One office accountable for the whole life of the case

The Collaborative divides the work by discipline. Monolith Insurance Solutions designs and places the policy. The Monolith Group provides the proprietary funding structure. Life Insurance Solutions is the agency of record — the point of engagement for the family's advisors at the start, and the office responsible for the structure once it is in force.

Engagement

Receiving the introduction, confirming the case qualifies, and assembling the working group — the family's counsel and CPA, the design team, the funding desk, and the trustee.

Coordination

Keeping design, underwriting, and the bond-funded premium schedule aligned with the plan the family's attorney has written, so no discipline makes a decision the others have not seen.

Stewardship

Annual policy review, collateral and side fund monitoring, and coordination with the trustee and the credit-support bank across the full life of the structure — typically twenty-five years, through to retirement of the funding.

WHO WE SERVE

Qualification is a test, not a number

The structure is built for a specific liability, and the first question is whether that liability exists. The second is scale: the funding carries fixed issuance costs that only recover on a large case, and a family whose need is smaller is usually better served by a conventional facility. We will say so.

PRIMARY

Families whose estate meets or exceeds the applicable federal estate tax exemption. The exemption is applied to the family's actual situation — a married couple, a single individual, or a surviving spouse — as their counsel calculates it.

SELECTIVE

Estates currently below the exemption whose private equity or other appreciating holdings are expected to carry them past it. Considered on a limited basis where the trajectory is documented and the family's advisors concur.

SELECTIVE

Families planning for another known future liquidity event. A buy-sell obligation, a structured buyout, or a similar dated liability where the same funding architecture applies.

FOR ADVISORS

We do not compete for the client relationship

Estate attorneys, CPAs, family offices, and registered investment advisors bring us in as a technical resource. The relationship stays with the professional who built it; our role is to execute the insurance component of a plan that is already theirs.

"Your plan. Your client. Our execution."

WHAT WE NEED TO BEGIN

  • A current estate summary — assets, ownership, and existing coverage.
  • The plan as it stands — trust structure and the objective counsel is solving for.
  • The liquidity picture — what would otherwise be sold, and when.
  • Counsel's involvement — we design with the family's attorney, not in their absence.

PLAIN TERMS

What every family should understand before engaging

Institutional funding is a serious commitment over a long horizon. We put the following in writing before any engagement begins, and we expect the family's counsel to review it with them.

Policy values are not guaranteed.

Illustrations are projections; actual crediting, charges, and cash values will differ and may be lower.

Funding costs vary.

Bond and credit-support costs move with the market and can exceed what was illustrated.

Credit support must be renewed.

A letter of credit has a term; non-renewal or a failed remarketing has consequences that are modeled and disclosed in advance.

Collateral is pledged.

The policy, a side fund, and a portion of the family's own assets secure the structure, and additional collateral may be required.

The carrier stands behind the policy.

All guarantees are subject to the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company.

Suitability is decided with counsel.

We do not provide tax or legal advice; the family's attorney and CPA determine whether the structure fits their plan.

Engagements begin with an introduction

Introductions from attorneys, CPAs, family offices, and institutions are answered within two business days.

Introductions typically come from the family's estate attorney, CPA, or family office. A short note describing the planning objective and the professionals already involved is the best starting point — we will respond with what we would need to evaluate the case.

We do not accept unsolicited inquiries directly from the public; every engagement runs through the family's existing advisors.
